Fundraising Tips

The funds raised by you and through this event are essential in helping to fulfill Home Base’s mission to heal the invisible wounds for Veterans, Service Members and their Families. Below are tips and resources to help jumpstart your fundraising!

Rally Your Troops!

Ask your friends, family, co-workers, to join you in participating or to support you by making a donation. Share your reason for running, give updates and show the impact of your participation.

Make it Personal

Share your reason to run or walk by personalizing your fundraising page with your story and a photo. Your story will inspire others to join our cause and support you in this year’s run.

Start a Conversation

Share the mission of Home Base with potential donors. You might be surprised who might thank you for the opportunity to learn more and make an impact.

Kick Off Your Fundraising

The best way to encourage others to make a gift to your efforts is to show them that you’ve donated yourself. Make a self-donation before sending out fundraising emails!

Ask, Ask, Ask!

Donations don’t always come from where you expect them, so cast a wide net and make each ask personal! Ask your friends and family to share your page on social media to support Veterans and their families.

Get Social

Be creative and have fun with your posts! Make sure to tag or mention @HomeBaseProgram on social media and use the hashtag #RTHB20.

Say Thank You

Say thank you early and often, and show donors the impact they are having with updates on your progress. Help encourage others by saying thank you publicly as well – Facebook is great to recognize your donors!

Double Your Impact

Corporate matching gifts are a great way to double – and sometimes even triple – your impact! Check with your employer on your company’s matching gift policy, and encourage your donors to do the same.

Plan an Event

Get creative and host your own fundraiser from our list of ideas on our Resources page! Ask friends and family to donate to you on your birthday for an added celebration.
